Winter Invasion Bargains in Budapest
The Hungarian capital of Budapest is becoming a really popular tourist destination, and not without reason, since it combines an attractive city with interesting history, friendly people and great wine. But perhaps their winter visitor rate is still a little bit down with the prospects of cold weather, so a conglomerate of government and private industry partners have put together the Budapest Winter Invasion .
Until March 31, 2008, there are a bunch of special deals available to visitors to Budapest, to entice you to Hungary during the cooler months. The big offer is that if you book a room for three nights in one of their participating hotels, you’ll get a fourth night for free. The offer applies to 60 different hotels across Budapest, ranging from three to five star level.
But the Budapest Spring Festival, taking place from March 14 to March 30, also falls into the time span of the Winter Invasion promotion. It’s actually a huge cultural festival, just little known in the west, but it’s worth checking out: music from pop to classical, theater, film and other festival events pack the schedule for two weeks. Since the hotel deals and the festival coincide, it’s a really great opportunity to get a large dose of European culture without breaking the bank.
