Free Entertainment in Vegas

Las Vegas is known for its casinos, themed resorts, and name entertainment, among other things. But, did you know that the city offers a wide variety of free entertainment? From the spectacular fountains at the Bellagio Hotel to the chocolate factory tour just out of town at Ethel M’s, you can amuse yourself all day without spending a dime. Among my favorites of the free entertainment offered in Las Vegas are:

  • Fountains at Bellagio — It’s hard to top this choreographed water display that features over 1000 water nozzles, over 4000 lights, and music, too. The show repeats each half hour from 3pm until midnight Monday through Friday and from noon until midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Fremont Street Experience — Not all of the excitement is located on the Strip. Downtown Las Vegas has made a comeback, and the Fremont Street Experience is its showpiece. The pedestrian-only Fremont Street is covered with a $70 million laser light canopy that comes alive with synchronized music and lights every hour from dusk until midnight. Even if you don’t gamble, the show is well worth the trip downtown.
  • The Neon Museum — This uniquely Las Vegas attraction, located just off of Fremont Street, collects, displays, and restores retired Vegas marquees. Among the signs on display are the horse and rider from the old Hacienda Hotel and the golden lamp from the original Aladdin Resort and Casino. The museum is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Ethel M. Chocolate Factory Tours — Free chocolate, well, at least one piece. What more do you need to say? Located about 10 miles outside of town in Henderson, Ethel M. Chocolates has been quality candy since 1981. See how these confections are made and the first sample is free. The factory is open daily from 830am to 7pm.
