Autumn is a terrific time to get out and about on a vacation. The leaves are changing. The air is crisp. The beauty of nature strikes the eye in a number of different ways. And what better way to enjoy that beauty than by taking a train ride? Trains offer the kind of scenic beauty that you would see on a road trip but give you the chance to actually enjoy that scenery instead of focusing on your driving. And trains can take you into more remote areas of the country where you can see views that you wouldn’t otherwise have seen.
To enjoy a train ride during the fall months, you should plan less around your destination than around the ride itself. Do you want to pass through the Appalachians? Or see Coastal California during the fall? Also think about how long you want to be on the train. Are you just looking to spend a few hours relaxing? Or do you want to take a multi-day journey with your family? These decisions will help you figure out where you want to go for your trip.
Once you’ve selected a basic area of travel and a length of time that you’d like to be on the train, you’ll be able to see which cities are in your desired travel area. Spend a little bit of time researching those cities that have train stops on your route. Maybe you’ll find a unique museum or a special bed-and-breakfast to visit. Select a destination that you might not otherwise have considered, creating a unique vacation that you’re sure to remember.
