If you’ve got someone on that shopping list who loves to travel, here are some inexpensive travel accessories that can make your present the best one under their tree.
- A vintage DIY carry-on bag: Go to the local thrift store and find a bag or small suitcase for just a few bucks. Decorate this with photos and other designs to make a unique gift that they’ll appreciate every time they get on a plane.
- Earthcomber: This GPS-like device can be personalized to the traveler’s tastes and turns any cell phone into a mobile Yellow Pages. And it’s not super pricey.
- Travel journal: Pick up an inexpensive bound leather book. Write the first entry yourself – a memory of a time that you two traveled together or a letter about how you hope that the traveler has many new travels to come.
- USB Stick: If you know someone who travels regularly and has to work on the road, they probably use a USB stick to carry their work information. Get one and load it with a few songs or photos that will remind the traveler that you care about him or her.
The key to getting a great, but affordable gift for the traveler is to give it that personal touch. It really doesn’t matter what you get if it shows that you know what the person is thinking about you.
