If you are a business traveler on a budget you know the importance of saving money when you travel. Big hotels that cater to business and convention travel often charge excessive per night fees for their rooms. With a little research you can almost always find another hotel in the area that fits your budget and allows you to attend to your business. A good example of this is travel to one of the biggest business/convention cities - Las Vegas. If you are traveling to attend a business meeting or a convention you will probably be directed to the hotel hosting the meeting or to one near the convention center. These are usually top level hotels, with top level prices. In addition to high per night fees you will also be looking at high rates in the restaurants, fees for an internet connection and sometimes even resort or business travel per night fees. This is fine if you are traveling on a cushy travel expense budget, but for most small business travelers we need to get the most for our hard earned money.
If you are booked to travel to Las Vegas - there are many options for you when it comes to hotels in the area. You can find several choices on the Las Vegas strip no matter if you need to be near the convention center or on the south end of the strip. The even better news is that the hotels in Las Vegas are very competitive - so you can usually find great deals on all rooms, even ones at top hotels like Luxor, Mirage and MGM. They all want to fill those rooms so it never hurts to check them before you book.
Business travelers will find the internet a very useful tool when researching hotels. Once you know that you need to travel on business, you can start using your computer to check out hotel deals in the area. When you know where your meeting or convention will be held, you can compare what the host hotel is charging per night against what you can find at local hotels in that area. Remember to check if the hotel will charge additional fees (like daily parking, resort fee, etc)- this will make a difference.
With just a little research you can maximize your travel dollars on hotel rooms - good deals are available - they just need to be uncovered.
