Get there before the group does

If you’re the person in charge of planning a group vacation, get there before the rest of the party so you can fix any last-minute glitches.
For example, say you booked a house for your group and it turns out to be small and dirty and in a bad part of town. Trying to find new accommodations when the whole group is upset and off-kilter can drag the trip down. But if you get there a day early and check it out, you can take care of it before anyone’s arrived.
You’ll also get a chance to check out a few attractions and make sure that they’re worth seeing. Obviously you can’t go everywhere that you’re going with your group, but if you’ve been trying to decide between two different children’s museums for the kids or two different clubs for the bachelorette party, seeing them in person will help you make the best decision.
It’s difficult to make decisions with a group of people around you. Even if you’re the mom and the kids have to do what you say, it can be hard to be decisive when everyone’s putting in their two cents. Taking a day to yourself to explore the area will make the whole vacation go more smoothly.
