Life on a cruise ship

Cruises offer a special opportunity for groups of any size–from 10 to 200 or more. The sheer size of today’s mega-liners allows all members of a group to find an activity that appeals to them, or they can just relax by the pool and do nothing at all. Group cruises can also be big cost-savers. Consider the following advantages of booking a group cruise.

  • Free cabins: Most cruise lines offer a complimentary berth for every so many–usually 15–persons booked. For instance, book 30 people on your cruise (15 cabins) and your cabin is free. Airfare is generally not included in this offer.
  • Extra amenities: Cruise lines often offer little extras to entice groups to book passage on their ships. Such things as complimentary cocktail parties, group photos and in-cabin gifts are common.
  • Individual freedom: Unlike a rigid bus tour, a group cruise allows the individual group members the ability to choose their activities and how much “together” time they want. You may have a few group activities planned, but individuals are basically free to enjoy the facilities of the ship as they choose.

To find the group cruise that’s best suited to your group, it’s wise to enlist the services of a travel agency that’s experienced in cruise travel. Because they deal with such vacations on a daily basis, cruise agents are well-situated to be able to learn of all of the new offers as soon as they are announced.
