• The Beaver Club. You probably wouldn’t guess it by the name but the Beaver Club is one of the nicest restaurants in Montreal. It’s located inside of The Fairmont – Queen Elizabeth Hotel so you’ll get a chance to see one of the area’s nicest accommodations when you make reservations to dine here. There are both a la carte menus and multi-course specials to choose from but be prepared to pay the hefty prices that come along with dining at such a well-established nice restaurant. You’ll also want to make sure that you’re dressed appropriately. Jeans and flip flops are not going to gain you entry to this hot restaurant. You can expect the food to stand up to the test of being so well-established.
• Chez L’Épicier. There’s something about Montreal that combines the best of being casual with the best of being fancy. Perhaps it’s that blend of Canadian and French lifestyles that you’ll find. In any case, it’s a style that’s truly unique to the area and it’s one that’s replicated at this restaurant. It’s casual but also upscale. The menu is French but the foods are simple and straightforward with a menu designed around the idea that great ingredients make great meals. You can buy some of those foods to go home with you because there’s a gourmet food boutique adjoining the restaurant.
• Europa. If you’re really looking to enjoy a great French meal, which is a safe bet at some point during your Montreal stay, then you’ll probably want to make your way to Europa. This restaurant combines the styles of two four-star French chefs and results in five-to-eight course meals that are going to delight your taste buds all the way through. They have a seasonal menu that changes to reflect the fact that they are using local ingredients in their meals.

• Gibby’s. When you go to Gibby’s, you are not just going to a great steak-and-seafood restaurant; you’re also going to a historical landmark. The building itself is over two centuries old. Of course, the restaurant doesn’t have that much history to its name but it is known locally as one of the best restaurants in the steak business. It’s located in Old Montreal which is the historic downtown area of the city. It’s a good restaurant for anyone but it’s especially great for someone who is visiting Montreal for the first time and who wants to experience a nice side of the city’s historic charm.
• Restaurant Aix Cuisine du Terroir. This restaurant is also located in Old Montreal but it doesn’t have the historic vibe that Gibby’s has. That’s because it is one of the newest restaurants in the area and is designed to be a trendier spot within this historic area of the city. Just check out their website where you are forewarned that “entering Aix Cuisine du Terroir is to risk submission to a multitude of temptations” and you’ll get a general sense of the edgy attitude that this nice restaurant exudes.
• Restaurant Globe. Another trendy restaurant, but one that’s a little more well-established than Aix, is Globe. This restaurant is uber-urban and tends to show off a more modern side of Montreal than what you are going to experience at many of the other hot restaurants throughout the city. If you’re part of a younger crowd or if you’re looking to impress someone in Montreal with your edginess then you’re going to want to head here to do your dining.
• Altitude 737. For another place that’s edgy you might consider the restaurant at Altitude 737 which is better known by locals as a bar/lounge. The restaurant here is good but what you’re really paying for isn’t so much the food as it is the stunning view of Montreal that you’re going to get while you eat. The food is worth mentioning also though and it’s a place that’s known for great desserts which is, of course, the best part of any meal.

• FondueMentale. There are very few fondue restaurants that are ever worth visiting when you’re only spending a few days in a specific destination. This is one of those rare exceptions that is good enough to add to a top restaurants list. It’s considered to be one of the most romantic restaurants in the city so if you’re looking to fall in love a little bit, whether it’s with someone else or just with Montreal itself, it’s a great bet for a good night. There’s an outdoor garden for a beautiful dining experience if you happen to be in Montreal on a great-weather evening.

• Restaurant La Coupole. This is another fine dining restaurant located inside of a hotel so you’re going to have to compete with the people staying at the accommodations to get a table. The extensive French menu and the wines that compliment the food perfectly here will make you feel certain that you’ve made the right choice.
• L’Avenue. There are going to be some days during your stay in Montreal when you’re looking for a hot restaurant that isn’t quite so demanding on your dress code. On those days you might want to think about heading to The Plateau, Montreal’s fun-loving and edgy neighborhood where casual is always cool. While you’re there, stop into this trendy restaurant where you can get some good old-fashioned comfort food that’s got a French twist to its taste. If you’re out and about in search of a good breakfast, this is a surefire great way to start your day but you can go here for any meal and get something you’ll enjoy.
• Café Santropol. This is another restaurant located in The Plateau and it’s probably a better bet for late-night dining. It’s an interesting place where you can go to get great upscale sandwiches at a relatively good price. You’ll want to plan on lingering here for at least a little while because the garden in the back of this restaurant is going to make it difficult for you to ever want to leave.
Montreal has a lot to offer its visitors. The vibe of this city is truly unique and people who come here rarely forget the experience. But doing all of that running around the city is bound to make you hungry. You mist as well complete the experience of Montreal by enjoying some of the best restaurants that this Canadian city has to offer. Determine whether you’re in the mood for historic or urban, upscale or laidback and then choose the restaurant that will best satisfy those gastronomic needs.
