One of the best ways to explore a new culture is through the cuisine. If you’re interested in eating your way across a city– or country–there are a number of tours available.
- Mongrams offers food vacations to Italy, New York, Paris and South America, among other destinations.
- Viking, the high end appliance manufacturer, also offers tours to such diverse locations as Sicily and Thailand.
- La Dolce Vita offers food and wine tours of Italy and Spain.
Want to create your own food-related itinerary? Check out Sally’s Place, a food and travel website that includes a number of gastronomic itineraries as well as restaurant reviews for locations around the world. Food and Travel magazine also scours the globe for unique dining experiences.
Or you can choose tours by city.
- Foods of New York offers food and walking tours throughout the city. You can choose a sushi tour, a tour of the meatpacking district or a culinary tour of Greenwich Village.
- Local Tastes of the City allows you to “eat your way across San Francisco.” Choices include tours of North Beach, the city’s traditional Italian neighborhood, and Chinatown.
- Savor Seattle offers tours through that city’s Pike Place Market. Private tours for small groups are also avialable.
