With nearly 400 national parks in the United States - it is very easy to find one for your next trip. From Alaska to the US Virgin Islands - nearly every area of the US contains a national park that will make a great vacation destination.

You can easily find a park right in your area or decide to travel to remote destination - you can find detailed information on national parks on the internet or in printed travel guides. National Parks vary in terms of what features and facilities they have to offer. Some are beaches with recreational areas, some are Historic Preservation Sites. You can visit parks that are or contain landmarks, forests, even active volcanos.

Famous national parks like Yellowstone National Park and Grand Canyon National Park offer camping and lodging for travelers. National Park visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, bicycling, camping and sightseeing when visiting.

The history of our National Parks dates back to the 1800’s. The first national park was established in March of 1872 when Congress donated Yosemite Valley to the state of California - and Yellowstone National Park was born. This marked the first time lands were set aside by the government for the enjoyment of the people. The National Park Services (NPS) was established by Woodrow Wilson in 1916 signed the Organic Art. At that time the NPS was responsible for 40 national parks and monuments.

So, consider a National Park for your next travel destination - whether you are the outdoor type or not, there are parks to suit every travelers needs.
