The state of California has hundreds of miles of beautiful coastline and the drive from San Francisco to Mendocino is one of the most beautiful spans of road in the US.
The quaint town of Mendocino is located 166 miles north of San Francisco and is about a four-hour drive. If your stomach can handle 6 hours of driving on roads filled with hairpin turns, then driving up Pacific Coast Highway 1 is a much more scenic route. The summer months draw thousands of tourists, and the late winter/early spring months lure many to scope out the whales.
A getaway to Mendocino can be had at any price point, whether you are looking for a more budget friendly trip to a fuve-star experience. Moreover, the possibilities for things to do are endless. Whether spending a few hours drifting in and out of the quaint shops along Main Street or hiking the endless trails or wine tasting at one of the dozens of wineries in the area, you’ll find something pleasing to do. Mendocino is somewhat of a destination for the arts so signing up for a workshop is another way of spending some quality time.
