Palm Beach, Florida is one of the most ideal spots in the United States for a summer vacation. This is a place where you can really have your vacation desires met whether you want to lounge around on the beach getting a great tan, party on the sand near local Florida nightclubs or get adventurous with water sports and beaches that have hiking trails. There may be many reasons that a person would end up in Palm Beach for summer vacation but the most common reason is that they are interested in hitting up these beaches. There are over forty miles of warm beautiful beaches here so there is a lot to be enjoyed during a vacation in the area. The only drawback is that there are so many great Palm Beach beaches to choose from that it can be difficult to know which one is the right one to plan to spend time at.
Here’s an overview of the best beaches in Palm Beach to help you start planning that summer vacation:
- Burt Reynolds Park. This Palm Beach county destination is perfect for people who are interested in taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy water sports on the beach. There is a day use boating area here and there is also the option of water skiing and fishing. The beach here includes volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and barbecue set-ups so it’s a great place for families who are on vacation in Palm Beach. As a result, though, this Palm Beach destination can get a little bit crowded during the summer months.
- Breakers Reef. This is a short reef in Palm Beach which is considered to be one of the best places for divers.
- Carlin Park. Carlin Park is another terrific beach for families because of the many different activities that are available on the beach here. Tennis courts, bocce courts and other types of non-water sports can be enjoyed here which isn’t true of all of the beaches in Palm Beach. There is also an amphitheater here where concerts and special events are held throughout the summer. This means that the beach is ideal for those groups that include people who don’t necessarily want to be active in the water despite the fact that the water is perfectly enjoyable for those people who do want to swim and play in it. There are playgrounds for young kids and a lifeguard on duty so it’s really an all-ages kind of beach.
- Coral Cove Park. This Palm Beach area also includes a lifeguard and a playground structure but has less opportunity for some of the mroe adult sports activity that can be found at some of the other all-ages beach areas. This is a guarded beach area so there is no surfing or fishing here. That makes this a great beach for families with young children but one which may not be suitable to a more adults-oriented group of Palm Beach visitors.
- Dubois Park. This beachside park has a combination of activities for both adults and children. There is a small guarded area that is safe for swimmers of all ages but there is also plenty of additional coastline for people who are interested in more adventurous water sports activities. A major reason that tourists go here is because it is also the site of Native American archaeological ruins which provides a great educational addition to the beachgoing experience and adds a new dimension of history to the modern vacation.
- Gulfstream Park. This is another of the guarded beach areas which means that its safe for swimmers of all ages but not ideal for those people seeking adventure on the water. It’s a place where people go to have picnics on the beach and to spend time frolicking in the water together.
- John D. Macarthur Beach State Park. This is a state park beach so it’s one of the few beaches that you have to pay to get into but the fee is small ($4 per car) and it’s worth it because of the beauty of the nature that has been preserved here in comparison to many of the other beaches in the area. It has all of the features and activites that you would expect from a state park.
- Juno Beach Park and Fishing Pier. This is a great Palm Beach destination for groups of all ages. People go here particularly to take advantage of the extensive fishing pier; this area includes a place for fishing equipment rental and a bait store. However, there are many other beach activities that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages at the Juno Beach destination in Palm Beach.
- Jupiter Beach Park. This is one of the largest guarded beach areas in Palm Beach. Picnic areas, volleyball courts and a fishing jetty are some of the things that appeal to visitors about this all-ages Palm Beach destination. However, it’s not a beach that allows for surfing or saltwater fishing so it’s not ideal for all groups. It’s your average Florida beach with moderate-level activities for almost everyone to enjoy.
- Lake Worth. This is one of the most popular destinations in Palm Beach county because it truly offers a wealth of activities for all different types of people. There is 1200 feet of developed beach here which is guarded by lifeguards so its suitable for swimmers of all levels. An extensive fishing pier and sports areas make it a great place for people of all ages to get in a little bit of exercise. A golf course draws in older resort visitors. And a casino makes it a great place for some young adult fun. There’s a little bit of everything at this beach.
- Loggerhead Park. This is a guarded beach which offers a lot of non-water sporting activities and is ideal for the adventurous and active traveler. This beach includes hiking trails that are great for truly active people as well as less intense activities such as horseshoe pits for the active-but-not-too-active traveler. There are two separate play structures so that kids of all ages can have a fun time at this beach.
- Ocean Inlet Park. This is an eleven-acre beach with 600-feet of guarded beach area for the safety of younger and less skilled swimmers. There are many different activities which can be enjoyed at this beach, the favorite of which is typically boat rental from the marina located here. Picnic areas and children’s playground structures add to the all-ages fun of this beach.
- Ocean Reef Park. In many ways, this beach park is similar to the others that can be found in Palm Beach. What makes this one stand apart is the fact that it has an overlook of the dune ecosystem here. People interested in the nature of Palm Beach will find this to be an interesting beach to explore in more depth.
- Red Reef Park. Many would argue that this is the most popular beach in Palm Beach. It is one of the most developed and largest beaches in the area. It includes a beach boardwalk which some vacationers would say is a “must have” for making a beach a good beach. Surfing and snorkeling are activities that are options here which isn’t the case at a lot of the other beaches in the area. This beach is also the site of the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. This is a nature center located right on the beach of Palm Beach which allows visitors to get an educational look at the marine life that lives in the water here. This is an ideal stop for tourists because it lets you see the local animal and plant life and also lets you experience the beach in a touristy kind of way.
