It’s impossible to choose just one destination in the country of Italy where you want to spend your time. Even if you’re certain that you want to experience the most romantic destinations in the country, it’s difficult to narrow down your choices. Nothing is more romantic than the canals of Venice. Except perhaps the vineyards of San Gimignano or the lingerie fashion shows of Milan or … many of the other sweet spots throughout the city.

Luckily, all of the potential for romance in Italy means that you’re able to go almost anywhere in the country and enjoy a sensually sensational experience. But if you want to make sure that your Italian vacation is as romantic as it possibly could be, these are the spots that you should plan on spending your time:

Romantic Hotels in Italy:
- Hotel Eden Spa Sarnano. Sarnano is a very small city where romance has room to blossom. If it needs any assistance, the spa that you reach through a heated tunnel here at this mountainside location is sure to help.
- Hotel du Lac. One of the most romantic regions of Italy is Lake Como. And this hotel is situated right on the edge of it. There’s not much that’s more romantic than that.
- Villa Feltrinelli. Perhaps even more romantic than Lake Como is Lake Garda. A villa here was turned into this hotel resort which provides you with appeal opportunity to indulge in every romantic moment you can imagine.
- Villa Carlotta. Stay in Sicily for some serious romance that’s more Italian that Italian is. Set in a garden that overlooks the sea, this high-end hotel is perfect for setting the mood.
- The Gray. If your style is five-star and urban, this hotel in fashion-forward Milan is probably the one for you.

Romantic Landmarks and Attractions in Italy:
- The vineyards of San Gimignano. There are vineyards located all throughout the entire country so it doesn’t really matter where you end up spending your time. However, the vineyards of San Gimignano, a walled city with a historical flavor, are the most romantic of all. Stroll, sip and linger with someone you love.
- Gondola rides in Venice. They’re so well-known for a reason.
- The Amalfi Coast. A popular destination with honeymooners, there isn’t really a place in this area that’s not romantic. Spend time on the water, on the beach or in the towns along the coast and you’ll find that you feel filled with romance.
- Italian Alps. When boundaries are blurred together, romance blossoms. This dividing line between Austria and Italy is exactly such a destination. It’s particularly good for active couples that like to ski together but it works for all sorts of people.
- Churches. Pick any city and there will be a famous church there for you to go see. Each of these is romantic in its own way. Explore the grounds where others have gotten married over the years. Share a mass together in a small local church if you are of that faith. Or simply enjoy the overwhelming experiences of viewing impressive architecture with someone you love.

Romantic Italian Spots that Aren’t So Well-Known:
- Roseto. Not enough people make it to this public rose garden in Rome. There’s a heart-shaped topiary where you can fall in love all over again.
- Camogli. A great number of people go to the Italian Riviera and many of them go there for romance. However, not too many know about this little fishing village located there. That means that the smart tourist can go enjoy the true romance of Italy without other travelers around.
- Romantic Park. Located in Taormina, Sicily, this is a series of gardens that is most well-known for the number of weddings held here. Perhaps it’ll make you get in the marrying mood yourself!
- Gulf of Poets. This is a little-known place but it is known well by a small community of artists and writers. These are the people who make magic happen on pages and canvases and they have also made magic happen in this destination where you can go and make some magic of your own.
- Orto Botanico de Firenze. This Florence attraction is a botanical garden which is often overlooked by tourists favoring more famous museums and sights in this city. Don’t miss out on it.
- Maremma. If you want to find a place in Italy that tourists skip altogether but that offers a chance to experience history from the inside out, this is the Tuscany city that you’ll want to seek out. Ask the locals about it when you arrive because the tour books aren’t going to have the information that you’re seeking. Rest assured that the experience of stepping back in time in Italy will be sufficiently romantic as to be unforgettable.
- Underground Naples. If you really want to step back in time, head to this area. Known in the area as “the city under the city”, this is a series of historical excavations discovered by archaeologists. There are only a few places open to tourists but you can go there and experience the true merging of history and modern life in Italy. Then go get some espresso at a Naples coffee shop.
- Campione d’Italia. You won’t quite be able to tell whether you’re in Italy or Switzerland while spending time in this unique place and that’s what gives it its unique romantic flavor. It is entirely separate from the rest of Italy because of the lake that surrounds it but this island is filled with Italian romance.

Romantic Restaurants in Italy:
- La Caravella Restaurant. This restaurant in Venice is famous but that doesn’t detract from the charm that it adds to the city.
- Porto Prego. Small Italian delicacies and seafood fresh from the Camogli fishing village where it’s located are what make the dining here memorable. The coziness of the restaurant and the window views of the village are what make it romantic.
- Boeucc. This is the oldest restaurant in Milan. Here, you’ll feel the history of lovers past and present.

Romantic Views throughout Italy:
- Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo. If you’ve ever wanted to see Rome from a romantic spot that’s quiet enough for a little conversation (or some quiet kissing), this is where you want to go.
- Leaning Tower of Pisa. It’s the most famous bell tower and Italy and it’s got a view that will take your breath away.
- Montesanto Cable Railway. Head to Naples to find some beautiful scenery. See it by railway … that is, if you can stop to take your eyes off of your companion long enough to look around and enjoy the view.
- Helicopter Ride over the Bay of Naples. There’s something about that adrenaline-pumping thrill of a helicopter ride that makes you fall a little more in love. The scenery of the Naples region will catch your heart as it cascades down and embrace it with a feeling you’ll never forget.
There are many different types of Italian vacations that you can enjoy. Take a road trip through the Italian countryside to a series of vineyards throughout the region. Spend some time in the water on the Amalfi Coast. Or give a romantic spin to the urban experience of any of the big cities in the country. Whether you choose to spend all of your time in one area of Italy or a little bit of time throughout all of the country, you can find romance around every turn.
