Getaway to Goa
Goa, India is a place which was put on the map during the times when the hippies first wandered to the east in search of spiritual enlightenment. Of course, what they were also searching for was a party and, ever since Goa has been known as the party destination of Asia and the surrounding area. It’s certainly still home to parties so if you’re looking for an international rave or an all-night dance on the beach, it’s a good place. But it’s also a great getaway for the average traveler who doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on his or her trip.
Other than its parties, Goa is known for its beaches, so you can easily go here to enjoy the sun and sand of an exotic locale. And believe it or not, there are spots right on the beach that are affordable. Actually, they’re more than affordable. If you don’t mind staying in a small hut that’s built up on stilts, you can actually sleep right in a beach house for less than $5 USD per night. And of course, if you’re willing to camp out at parties, stay in hostels or otherwise look for cheap travel, then you can spend even less.
Travelers who want to visit Goa’s beaches but avoid the parties will find that the town of Palolem is usually a good bet. And those that are interested in the architecture and culture of India will find that journeys inland offer much to be seen. Be forewarned that it’s a good idea to learn the local bus system and stay away from the rickshaws if you want to keep your internal travel there cheap.
Speaking of cheap, book your hotel here to ensure the best rates and availabilty for your next trip.
