Toronto

Though not the bargain it once was, Toronto still offers a good value for money, including a large number of free attractions. Just a few of these are listed below:

Toronto Harbourfront: Toronto’s Harbourfront complex, located along the shores of Lake Ontario, offers a year-round schedule of activities, most of which are free. In the summer, there are festivals, live music, and a plethora of street performers. In the winter, there’s ice-skating and ice-carving competitions. Year-round, the view is spectacular and the atmosphere lively.

Don Valley: Located in the heart of the city, the Don Valley offers ten kilometers of scenic hiking and biking trails as well as hills to climb and a variety of geological exhibits. It’s a wonderful oasis within the city.

Kensington Market: This coloful market, near the University of Toronto, is home to a variety of fruit stands, ethnic food stores, meat purveyors, and restaurants. During the summer months, the area draws street performers and sidewalk vendors as well as frequent concerts and festivals. It’s never the same twice, but it’s always interesting.
