Cancun lagoon

Cancun is known for its sparkling clear water, snorkeling, vibrant nightlife, and fascinating remnants of the Mayan civilization that once thrived there. Did you know that Cancun also offers a number of free attractions and activities?

  • Cancun Ecological Park: Located in downtown Cancun, this peaceful, uncrowded park features a replica of a typical Mayan house as well as spider monkeys, ducks, and crocodiles–all at a safe distance, of course. The park is open Tuesday through Sunday from 7am to 5pm.
  • Cancun shopping malls: Cancun loves its shopping malls and the spacious centers offer more than just stores. For example, La Isla Shopping Center in the hotel zone, is a Venetian-themed attraction where you can see dolphins and feed the fish for free.
  • La Sagrada Familia: Cancun’s Catholic cathedral, located in the city center, is simple, yet moving–and a popular gathering place on Sundays from 7am to 8pm.
  • The beaches. Cancun’s beaches are all public and offer free access. Some of the best choices are a little away from the resort area, but accessible by bus, such as Playa Tortuga and Playa Caracol.
