Cancun is known for its sparkling clear water, snorkeling, vibrant nightlife, and fascinating remnants of the Mayan civilization that once thrived there. Did you know that Cancun also offers a number of free attractions and activities?
- Cancun Ecological Park: Located in downtown Cancun, this peaceful, uncrowded park features a replica of a typical Mayan house as well as spider monkeys, ducks, and crocodiles–all at a safe distance, of course. The park is open Tuesday through Sunday from 7am to 5pm.
- Cancun shopping malls: Cancun loves its shopping malls and the spacious centers offer more than just stores. For example, La Isla Shopping Center in the hotel zone, is a Venetian-themed attraction where you can see dolphins and feed the fish for free.
- La Sagrada Familia: Cancun’s Catholic cathedral, located in the city center, is simple, yet moving–and a popular gathering place on Sundays from 7am to 8pm.
- The beaches. Cancun’s beaches are all public and offer free access. Some of the best choices are a little away from the resort area, but accessible by bus, such as Playa Tortuga and Playa Caracol.
