If you’re in the military be aware that several organizations and businesses offer free or discounted tickets to serving soldiers, sailors and marines.

If you’re considering a cruise, be sure to mention that you’re military as many lines not only offer great rates but they also have a few free trips each year geared toward military members and their families.

Many amusement parks also give good discounts, and offer free passes at certain times of the year. You may even be able to take advantage of some line hopper passes and other added bonuses.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stay you’re not limited to on base lodging, although this may be where you find the best deals. To get a few more amenities, try Armed Forces Recreation Centers, or military run condos and timeshare resorts.

One thing to remember when you’re making your reservations and taking advantage of all the discounts you can, airlines typically only give discounts on their full fare prices, and even with the discount this can be much more than the current special rates, the same is true of many hotel chains. So remember to do your research before you assume you’re getting the best deal available.
