Last year was a tough one for air travel, and business travelers who flew frequently were unhappily subject to late flights, rising prices, and fewer in-flight comforts. Unfortunately, experts predict that 2008 will be no better, with some aspects getting worse and only a few improving.

Higher fuel prices will raise the costs of air travel which, in combination with high booking rates and fewer domestic flights, might make your business jaunts even less enjoyable than before. The good news, though is that flights should be less subject to delays.

If you thought cashing in on your frequent flier miles was difficult last year, this year will be even less rewarding: Delta has already devaluedits miles, and other airlines will likely follow suit. Award seating may no longer be available on many flights, and rules are likely to change in favor of the airlines this year.

There will be more international flight options; new routes are being added beginning March 30, connecting U.S. to EU. cities with previously-infrequent or nonexistent options.
