Hagley Museum

How about taking time off from your business trip to see how business was conducted in the 19th Century? The Hagley Museum, located in Wilmington, Delaware, is a convenient day trip for visitors along the Eastern corridor, from New York to Washington.

One of the most well-known museums of business in the United States, the Hagley is the site of the gunpowder works founded by E. I. du Pont in 1802. The museum includes restored mills, a workers’ community, and the ancestral home and gardens of the du Pont family. Hagley’s library contains a history of business and technology in America, complete with company records from a broad range of American businesses–from 18-Century merchants to modern telecommunications companies.

A trip here can provide the business traveler with a terrific overview of the history of business in America. For more details, check out Hagley’s online exhibits.
