In years past, air travel for many meant getting dressed up. Back then the service was personal, there were free meals and snacks to boot. Boy how times have changed.
It seems as if no one dresses up for a flight anymore, in fact people seem to have a hard time dressing appropriately at all. The underdressed hit the headlines when Hooters waitress Kyla Ebbert turned her near eviction for her skimpy outfit into a Playboy modeling gig. The overdressed drive everyone crazy when they extend the already long waits through security.
When choosing what to wear for air travel consider the security checkpoint first. It’s easy enough to slip your belt and watch off. But if you’re in the habit of piling on the metal jewelry, it’s easier to pack those items in your carry on or leave them at home. Since your shoes will have to come off at most airports, switch to slip-ons so you don’t hold up the line untying your shoes or trying to pull your boots off and on.
After you’ve moved through security you’ll need to think about comfort. Wear something that doesn’t bind in the middle or creep up and cut off circulation to other areas. Planes are notoriously hot and cold and then hot again. Wear layers that you can quickly and easily remove.
Finally, think about your destination. The best thing to do on a business trip is to adopt a favorite color and stick to it. Monochromatic outfits are easy to mix and match and require less accessories, meaning you’ll have less to pack and your trip will go more smoothly.
