Getting away from it all allows business professionals to disconnect from the world and relax for a few days.
Dropout destinations, as they’re called, are places so remote that your Blackberry won’t connect, you can’t check your messages, and email is miles and miles away. This step back in technology is exactly what many people need to unwind from high-stress, tech-heavy, jobs.
Many business professionals choose to get away on nature vacations, hiking the Himalayas, observing turtles in the Galapagos, or volunteering in Mexico. Other popular options include quiet fishing vacations in the middle of nowhere, high-adrenaline white-water rafting trips, and organic vacations to remote, off-the-grid locations. The point: escape to a place with no cell phone reception, and where dial-up Internet is a luxury.
Several niche travel companies fit the bill, and a quick Internet search or a call to your travel agent should hook up nicely. Think a bit about what you’re looking for: Do you want to relax on a tiny, remote island? Or would you prefer vigorous exercise and high-energy activities? Do you prefer structured tours? Or do you like DIY-style? This vacation is about you and your personal version of relaxation, so plan well and leave your cell phone at home. Where you’re going, you can’t use it anyway.
